What is the monkey mind?
It was around 2,500 years ago that Buddha described the untrained human mind as being like a bunch of drunken monkeys, constantly jumping from branch to branch, chattering and hollering, pointing out all the things we should be afraid of and worry about.
But now in our fast-paced, pressurised modern world, our monkeys have access to smartphones and 24/7 connectivity, providing them endless things to chatter about and fear and it is this untrained monkey mind that has lead to the epidemic of poor mental health we are witnessing today.
What do we do?
We provide organisations and individuals with specialist resources to help them measure, understand and improve mental wellbeing.

- Our ‘Inner Balance Coaching System’ provides individuals with 24/7 access to specialist resources to help them understand and improve their mental wellbeing.
- Our on-site coaching can inspire staff to engage more in their own wellbeing or empower managers to provide appropriate guidance and training.
- Our one-to-one coaching services via video link can provide professional support for everything from clinical issues such as anxiety, anger and depression through to executive performance.
What is Mental Wellbeing?
Mental Wellbeing, as defined by MIND the mental health charity, is dynamic and describes your mental state. An individual can be of relatively good mental wellbeing, despite the presence of a mental illness. If you have good mental wellbeing you are able to:
- Feel relatively confident in yourself and have positive self-esteem.
- Feel and express a range of emotions.
- Build and maintain good relationships with others.
- Feel engaged with the world around you.
- Live and work productively.
- Cope with the stresses of daily life, including work-related stress.
- Adapt and manage in times of change and uncertainty.
What is Presenteeism?
Presenteeism is the loss in productivity when employees come to work but function at less than full capacity and it could be effecting as many as 3 in 5 workers. It is often associated more with managerial and executive positions and is estimated to cost the UK economy £15.1 Billion per annum, almost double the business cost of absence from work.
Who is Monkey Mind for?
Everybody has mental health but sadly we live in an age where suffering due to poor mental heath is at epidemic proportions. It is our mission to do all we can to raise awareness, deepen understanding and to improve mental wellbeing wherever we can.
We have therefore endeavoured to make our services as easily accessible as possible so whether you are an individual or represent a small business, school, college or university or even a multinational corporation or public service, we can help.
We have focused on organisations because an individual is like a cell within an organism. Where you have one cell not vibrating at optimum levels it will affect and degrade other cells and eventually affect the entire organ.
However, it also works the other way, so by focusing on improving the health of each cell, their positive vibration will begin to effect the other cells and eventually improve the overall health of the organ or organisation!
